About Jeff Corbett
Radical Transparency
Back in 1998 I was dealing with independent real estate, mortgage and contractor professionals in order to turn my meager real estate portfolio over. Their services were far too expensive compared to the value I was receiving so I decided to start 3 companies…a mortgage brokerage, a real estate brokerage and a construction firm…on top of the existing property investment business. It was as crazy as it sounds. My goal was to ’shake things up’ from the inside, and by example. Well that got me in trouble with my peers and competition who didn’t appreciate the way I marketed my business in reflection to the industry status-quo at the time. It got them so upset that I just knew the education and transparent look I gave my consumers was bigger than originating loans or showing homes. So I closed/sold my companies and started pursuing an idea around ‘transparent mortgage qualification’ based on a Customer to Business model in Jan. 2006…much to the chagrin of my then wife. TheXBroker.com blog ‘launched’ in August of 2006 out of my web-masters frustration with my constant requests for content additions, edits and the such. My opinionated, provocative, raw approach to the industries…what I like call Radical Transparency…lead to 2 real estate and mortgage tech related start-ups, a very important job at the worlds largest social network for real estate professionals (ActiveRain) and now as a Partner in the prestigious consulting firm of 7DS Associates where I sell intelligence. Seriously. I currently live in Charlotte, NC and suffer from constant entrepreneurial seizures. You can also follow me on Twitter @JeffX where I rarely talk business- and my Posterous site by clicking here. Oh yeah, I went to Syracuse University and Barton College where I studied cellular biology and psychology. I do nothing with this expensive knowledge except answer trivia, score big on scrabble and read medical journals. Someday I would like to get my Masters in genetic engineering and build something really innovative by altering DNA (for the better).
